Many of Delaware’s coastal UFO reports share a common feature: they involve lights seen over the Atlantic Ocean or Delaware Bay. This creates several common perception problems:
- Distance compression: A light many miles away can appear surprisingly close.
- Size inflation: If the distance is underestimated, the object may seem much larger than it really is.
